Welcome to the first reading comprehension exercise for Grade 5! Today, we will explore an interesting story about a young boy named Jack and his exciting adventure in the forest.

One sunny morning, Jack decided to go on a walk in the nearby forest. He had heard many stories from his grandmother about the magical creatures that lived there. As he walked deeper into the woods, he noticed how the sunlight danced through the leaves above him, creating beautiful patterns on the ground.

Suddenly, Jack heard a rustling sound behind a bush. Curious, he approached the bush and found a small, furry creature with big round eyes staring back at him. It was a squirrel! The squirrel seemed friendly and led Jack to a hidden path that no one had ever seen before.

Following the squirrel, Jack discovered a clearing filled with wildflowers of all colors. In the center of the clearing stood an old oak tree with a hollow trunk. Inside the hollow trunk, Jack found a map made of parchment. The map showed the way to a secret treasure hidden deep within the forest.

Excited by this discovery, Jack knew he had to share it with his friends. With the help of the squirrel, he marked the path on his own copy of the map and promised to return soon. As he left the forest, Jack couldn’t wait to tell everyone about his amazing day.
